Elegant DVD, Buyer Beware

One of the 3rd-party sellers on Amazon.com, Elegant DVD, has a tendency of opening Blu-ray cases and removing the DVDs that are inside combo packages. They then reseal the packages and sell them as "new" items. Please be aware of this when shopping on Amazon.

I received an item today in the mail that was clearly resealed, the plastic wrap was lose and didn't include the usual stickers that I've seen of the same item in stores such as Target and BestBuy. Also the slipcover was missing. Inside the package, were two Blu-ray Discs, but the DVDs were missing. It was supposed to contain four discs, two of each format, but the two DVDs were gone. What's obviously happening here is that Elegant DVD is buying stacks of these titles, removing the DVDs to resell separately, and putting the items on sale on Amazon listed as "new" when they really aren't. Even if the Blu-ray Discs were never watched, once you open the packaging it's no longer new.

Elegant DVD is selling USED products under the banner of "New" just so they can make double the profit by selling Blu-ray Discs and DVDs separately.

They are cheating the studios out of money, because instead of getting both Blu-ray and DVD copies to sell, they are just getting the Blu-ray combo packs and splitting them up to sell and make twice the profit, but only paying the studios once. They could also be cheating the Government, because if they don't declare the sale on their taxes... Not saying that's what's happening, but if they do declare then I'm sure studios will find out and refuse to supply them; and they are obviously still in business. You decide. In either case, Elegant DVD is a company of dishonest cheats.

UPDATE: On March 26, 2015 I get a call from Elegant DVD on my mobile trying to bribe me to change my rating on Amazon from one star to five stars. I'm wondering now if this is how they received such a high overall rating, they are just paying people off? I would never do business with this unethical company, and I warn others not to do the same.

UPDATE 2: On March 30, 2015 I received another call from them. It's obvious from the tone of the voicemail and the fact that Robert from Elegant DVD waited over a month to contact me, that he doesn't care about customer service. All he's interested in is his stupid user rating. I'm tired of his harassment, so I decided to block his calls. Hopefully this:

will be the only two times his number shows up in my missed calls log. Unfortunately his voicemails will continue to be added to my phone, just moved to a "Deleted Messages" section. I just ran a test by temporary blocking another number I have access to, to see what would happen since this is the first time I ever had to block someone. The phone doesn't ring, but I still get their voicemail. Oh well, at least the phone won't ring and bother me. I do not approve of this form of harassment, and it's even more reason why I recommend to everyone not to buy anything from this company. Avoid them like the plague.

My Batman replacement discs came in today

As you may know, Warner Home Video released the complete Batman TV series from 1966-1968 on Blu-ray Disc and DVD in November of 2014. By December, Warner set up a replacement program for two defective discs in the set and on the 5th of this month I received a confirmation email that the discs were shipped. They arrived today, and here they are:

Warner also included an apology letter, a rather nice touch. Thank you Warner Bros. for the fast response to this error!
