new blogger

So I merged my blog today to the so-called "new" blogger.

The upgraded template does look cooler than the old template :)

And I really like the new drag-and-drop feature when it comes to editing the template.

Town Hall Slacking Off!

I went to my local Town Hall today to get some information about local plays that are being produced in my area. The hours on the door says they are open today from 10:00AM until 3:00PM. I arrived at exactly 2:40PM giving me 20 whole minutes until closing, and what do I find when I get there; They locked up already!

They closed at least (it may be more) 20 minutes early. The Town Hall is there to serve the people, but they are robbing the people out of times they are supposed to be open. That is dishonest.

Palm "help" forums are anything but

Last month I asked a question at the Palm Help Forums, well it's been one month and still no reply.

A couple of days ago, I ask the same question at Brighthand and get an answer within two hours.

You would think Palm would be more supportive to their customers, but it seems like they don't care. The so-called "help forums" are just there to make Palm seem helpful, but they really aren't.

Pluto loses status as a planet

I found this on news.bbc.co.uk and thought it was worth spreading the words, here it is.

"Astronomers vote to strip Pluto of its status as a planet, effectively meaning it will be airbrushed out of textbooks."

Review of Internet Explorer 7 Beta 3

Tonight I installed Internet Explorer 7 Beta 3 (the latest IE7 version) from the Microsoft website for testing. I was dissapointed with the experience.

I uninstalled it, and have IE6 again.

IE7 is supposed to be able to support the content type application/xhtml+xml (a feature Microsoft lacked in IE7), but as I found out in my test, it doesn't. IE7 reacted the same way IE6 does to a web document sending that content type.

Another little annoyance is since IE is integrated into the Windows Operating System, IE effects the whole computer. I have a multi-card reader built into my computer that allows me to read various cards such as Secure Digital (SD) Cards and Sony Memorystick. Having IE7 on my computer "broke" the multi-card reader. When I unstalled it, going back to IE6 the multi-card reader worked again.

This is just another thing that Microsoft needs to work on fixing. In the meantime my browser of choice is Firefox, it has yet to let me down.

Beware of Pachi Paradice

On April 12, 2006 I ordered a 3 Sword Wall Display Rack from Amazon.com
The shipper was Pachi Paradice.
My order was late, and after contacting the shipper and getting no response, I had to take up the issue with Amazon directly. After a couple of emails with Amazon I was finally able to get my item from Pachi Paradice.

Keep in mind that this whole time, Pachi Paradice failed to respond to any of my emails. I left a rating of 1 out of 5 stars on the Amazon.com feedback page with this comment:

The dilivery was late, when contacting the shipper they never replied which left me wondering this whole time what happened. I was supposed to get item by April 21 and got it April 26 with no contact from the shipper as to why. Also it came chipped, no invoice, and I had to put it together myself which was NOT put in the description. The shipper is unprofessional and no one should buy from them

Two days AFTER this feedback was on the Amazon.com website, I recieved an email from Pachi Paradice saying "Your feedback is unfair, you didn't give us time.....", obviously this is total bull since they had plenty of time to respond to my emails and they never replied to a single one.

When I finally got my item shipped, it was shipped from "Guy Robillard", not "Pachi Paradice" according to the records on Amazon.com.

Also, Pachi Paradice says on their "about seller" page that they are from "Massachusets", yet the return address on the package when it finally came a week late, it said "Louisiana".

Pachi Paradice has lied about everything. I'd never buy from them again and I'd advice to anyone that asks me, not to buy from them either.

BUYER BEWARD! When shopping on Amazon.com, never buy from the company Pachi Paradice!

I've shopped on Amazon.com before and never had a problem with other sellers. Pachi Paradice is the only seller on Amazon.com that I ever had a problem with, a total nightmare.

In my opinion, Pachi Paradice is the devil themsevles and should not be trusted under any circumstances.

Losing faith in IZE

I'm starting to lose all faith in a web site nicknamed "IZE". Their recent decision in forum "organizing" is horriable. They have really lost touch with what SHOULD be important, and rather decided to make themselves happy rather than their members.

NexttBBS the GREATEST message board system!

A lot of people are "set in their ways" and think just because something is commercial and you have to pay a lot of money for it, that it must be the "best".

Two of the better known "commercial" message boards are:
  • vBulletin
  • Invision Power Board
I'm now going to tell you about a message board (I think) blows the other two out of the water!
It is called "The Next BBS" (or just NextBBS)

The support board for NextBBS is: http://nextbbs.com/
You can download NextBBS at: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=121332

NextBBS is OPEN SOURCE which means it's free.
Free software is a matter of liberty not price. You should think of "free" as in "free speech".

People should have the right to use, study, copy, modify, and redistribute computer programs as this helps society grow as a whole. When people are not allowed to do the above, then it limites creativity and if you don't get to work on something you can never help make it better.
That is why a web browser like Mozilla Firefox can quickly fix bugs and Internet Explorer can't. Because they only have one company working on it, and that company is busy with other things and can't fix every bug the second it is found. But since Mozilla Firefox is open source, anyone and everyone is allowed to work on it to improve it and make it better, so bug fixes are able to be done as soon as the bug is found.

Message boards are no different. It can take forever for a message board with only one company working on it to fix their bugs, but if the message board is open source then it takes less time because anyone can patch the bug and submit the "bug fix" so it can be added to the offical download site.

NextBBS uses the GNU Public License, as most open source software uses.

Do yourself a favor, if you are going to use a message board then use the best!

I just bought new Photoshop software

A while ago I sent by old computer, a Sony Vaio Notebook, to bestbuy to get fixed (I had a warentee with them). Those morons threw it in the trash instead of fixing it. Because of their very stupid mistake, they gave me a new computer. A Gateway Notebook.

My old computer has Photoshop Elements 2.0 built-in. Since it was built-in I didn't have a seperate disk for it.

This computer I had now came with no useable software of any kind (stay away from Gateway folks!).

So today I bought Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0 and Adobe Premere 2.0 at the store so I could use Photoshop again. The combo pack was cheaper than buying both seperate, so I went for the combo pack rather than just Photoshop Elements 4.0 by itself.
