It's 1:40 AM and I can't sleep, so I'm going to do something different this time. Normally I blog about my opinions to various things, such as my Highlander movie review, and my reasons why a certain distributor on Amazon is evil. But this time, I'm going to blog about what I've been up to lately.
For the couple of weeks, I've been editing a movie I shot with a group of people for a film class I'm taking. I have used a mix of different computer applications to do this, but the one I've used the most is Final Cut Pro. I also bought a MacBook Pro recently just so I could use FCP.
This was also my first time experiencing Macintosh computers. Though I've used one of those semi-bulky, colorful "eMacs" before at a library several years ago, I've never actually owned one until now. My MacBook Pro came pre-installed with Tiger, but with a Leopard upgrade disc. Leopard has many amazing features, one of which looks cool but I haven't tried it yet since I don't have a standalone Windows disc. The feature is called "bootcamp" that let's you run Windows and thus Windows applications on the Mac. It seems cool in theory, but as I haven't tried it, I can't comment.
So besides editing the video, I've also looked for some music to add to the soundtrack. I've added some already, and someone in the group I'm working with is supposed to be getting me some more audio clips to add.
The most recent aspect of the video I've been working on are the closing credits. First I tried LiveType and then Motion (both applications that come bundled in with the Final Cut Studio package. But neither had what I wanted for the credits, they were both too "fancy", and I wanted basic, simple-looking credits. So I ended up making the credits in Final Cut Pro. The credits scroll a little too fast, so either tomorrow or the day after I'll most likely try to slow them down a bit. After all, if credits go by too fast to read, there's no point in having them. And people should be recognized for their talents in a film.
So with that all said, I'm going to try to get some sleep now. Or at least lay down in my bed, in the hopes that I fall asleep. But chances are I'll probably be up all night. I'm not really sure why I can't sleep, all I know is that it's really frustrating.
Hello Everyone
